One of the best things about childhood is the toys and the older you get the better they get. Remote control cars and so on are fabulous fun whether you play on your own or with a group of friends. They can give hours of entertainment and keep the kids, and sometimes the husbands, out of trouble.

There is no limit to the variations in cars, trucks and so on that are available to buy on the market today, twenty odd years ago it was a far different story but now we are inundated with choice and variety. There are sports cars, vintage vehicles and even formula one cars, in addition to this you can have trucks and all-terrain vehicles.

The possibilities for this past-time are endless and the fun by no means has to stop once you grow up. There are numerous groups in every country that meet to discuss and show off their latest toy and they also perform races. So you could take part in a formula one race, an off-road rally or even a monster truck derby.

These fun filled cars are simply scaled down models of the original, in many ways they have all the same details and are capable of relatively similar speeds, when you consider their size that is. You wont find a RC car that can do 200mph but one has been modified by a professional RC car racer and has broken his own world record for the fasts RC car. Previously it stood at 134mph now it is at a staggering 161mph.

The average top speed of any RC vehicle depends greatly on what it is based on, an off road vehicle will not go as quickly as a road based one but the off road version can be a lot more fun. Some off road designs allow he car to flip and run up-side down and the wheels can even change shape to enable to the get out of tricky places.

There are many places where you can purchase RC cars and trucks, shops sell them and there are countless places online that stock them but if you are looking for something more than just a toy for your child then you need to consider spending a little more and visiting an specialist shop or internet site.

Whether you go to a physical shop or find a great site make sure you speak to someone about your requirements so they can talk you through the models that have and what they can do. That way you can be sure of getting an RC vehicle that does what you want it to, and that it is suitable to your level of experience.

There is no point getting a super fast race car and smashing it up in the first day you have it, listen to the sales person and follow their suggestions. If RC racing is going to become a permanent hobby then you need to take the time to build up your knowledge base and experience with the slower and easier to control models before tacking the big boys.

What To Know When Purchasing Nitro RC Trucks

If you have been considering buying Nitro RC trucks for kids, it is very important that the kids be grown. These particular toys are not electrically powered but instead function on gas. The gas powered toys run much more faster and are a better source of entertainment to young adults.

A gas powered truck is usually a one-tenth to one-eighth scale remote controlled vehicle. When purchasing, the truck is available as a kit. The kit should contain the truck kit, an engine, an igniter and starter, nitro gas fuel and a radio control system. Some parts of the kit are sold separately, meaning that items such as the gas fuel, the starter and igniter are not included.

The truck that you will be purchasing will have an electric motor which is needed to start the gas engine. Full power will be created as a combination of both electric and gas power. When buying gas for the toy, regular gasoline will not work. The fuel needed is a special blend used to power R/C vehicles.

An R/C truck can fall into one of four categories depending on its size. A monster truck is the largest R/C available and carries the strongest engine. A stadium truck is a true prototype of the original R/C and are usually two wheel drive. Smaller options that you can choose from are called either a road or mini truck. Mini R/C are more popular because they are safer, cheaper and can be operated in your own backyard.

As a beginner looking into a specific brand, it is advised that you purchase one-tenth scale units with a two wheel drive. These vehicles are much more easier to maintain. If you are prepared to handle greater speed and power, you could purchase a one-eighth scale monster truck. If you just want to have good outdoor fun without spending a fortune then mini Nitro RC trucks are your best option.

Stay Safe With RC Helicopters

Heading out to fly your (Radio Controlled) RC helicopters is great fun and it is little surprise we rush to get in the air as quickly as possible. However, it is essential that you stay safe whilst enjoying this fascinating hobby.

The first thing to do is complete a thorough preflight inspection, which should carefully follow a check list ensuring that nothing is overlooked. If there is any cause to question the airworthiness of the aircraft, then it should not be flown.

No matter how experienced, no-one should fly a chopper alone. It is always best to have at least one other person with you, whilst there should also be at least two cell phones carried by the group, to call for help in the event of an emergency.

Different RC helicopters need to be treated in different ways, but each should be treated with respect, as you would with any machine. Electric helicopters can develop full power almost instantaneously, so ensuring all safety switches are engaged before ready to fly is important.

Nitro-helicopters do not reach full power so quickly as electrics, but can still be very dangerous. As such, it is important to firmly grasp the rotor head when handling, as injury can occur quickly from the blades should the machine start from an elevated setting.

It is important not to handle a machine that is running or armed, whilst a safe distance should be kept until the blades are rotating at a safe velocity, whether strapped to a stand or freestanding. In a similar way, moving any helicopter should always be done with the throttle hold engaged, to protect against sudden surges in power.

Finally, RC helicopters need to be used appropriately in regards to other people. As such, no close flying to groups of people should ever be done for display, whilst hovering should never be below 15 feet above people’s heads.

RC Trucks Are A Great Hobby For Life

There are many thousands of happy owners of (radio controlled) RC trucks, across all ages and both sexes. Indeed, for kids they are a great tool for many reasons other than simply having fun. They can teach and develop skills, improve mental capacity and invigorate. They are also a great way to simply relax and spend time though.

At the very basic level radio controlled trucks are small toys which can be used in the home quite easily. These types of toys are great for very young children to play with, being simple fun but also helping improve their learning. With concentration needed to garner control of the vehicles, mental alertness is improved alongside reactionary skills.

Moving on to the next level of vehicle, those which are used outside, these skills continue to develop as the machines themselves get faster and more complex. Outside though, there is also the additional benefit of simply being outdoor and in the fresh air, but things go further than this.

RC racing is a popular sport these days and through this, many people find themselves making close friendships. Again, this is a healthy aside to RC trucks, benefiting social skills and creating a social group far beyond a computer screen. As a popular past time too, it is also a great alternative for those kids which may not otherwise have a natural aptitude or desire for regular sports.

Throughout each different stage of radio controlled vehicle, the skills continue to be learned. In race situations strategic thinking skills are developed for example, whilst many of the more serious models also help towards responsible later life automobile ownership and driving skills.

With other skills such as patience, determination and willpower also learned, there is much to be said for the simple hobby of RC trucks. Yes, of course it will always be a fun and enjoyable pastime, but it is truly surprising just how beneficial this simple hobby can be.
